Complete set of four volumes. Quarto. Large gilt vignettes of birds on front covers. The Birds of British Somaliland and the Gulf of Aden: Their Life Histories, Breeding Habits, and Eggs. Volumes I and II, Gurney & Jackson, 1937. Volumes III and IV, Oliver & Boyd, 1961. Twenty-eight color plates from bird paintings by Archibald Thorburn and six color plates by Henrik Gronvold (five of eggs, one of a new species.) Twenty photographic plates, four folding maps, two of which are colored. The plates by Thorburn are exceptional and the only foreign birds painted by this artist. Vol. 1 and II lacking dust jackets. Dust jackets of Vol. III and IV chipped. Vol. II bumped corners.
