Species account numbers 335 and 336 in the Birds of North America Life Histories for the 21st Century series. In 1992 the American Ornithologists' Union in partnership with the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia undertook the publication of species accounts for each of the more than 700 species which breed in the United States and Canada. These illustrated reviews provide comprehensive summaries of the current knowledge of the species, with range maps and an extensive list of references. The series is finally complete, in 716 parts. Accounts are 8 ½ x 11 booklets, which range in length from 12 to 48 pages. They include up-to-date information about distribution, systematics, migration, habitat, sounds, behavior, breeding, appearance, and conservation. Buteo Books is pleased to offer all of the individual species accounts for sale. All 716 accounts are listed here in taxonomic order (rearranged to conform with the Seventh Edition of the A.O.U. Check-list of North American Birds). The item number is the unique number for that species account; accounts are numbered in order of publication. COMPLETE SETS: Buteo Books has a few complete sets of the Birds of North America series remaining. These sets include all 716 accounts, Table of Contents, Corrigienda, Errata, slipcases, and labels.
