Several subspecies and color morphs that can be recognized in the field follow below the species names. Non-native species and extirpated species are indicated. Occurrence is also indicated. This list is based on decisions of the New Mexico Bird Records Committee through January 2012. Names and sequences of families and species conform to the American Ornithologists' Union's Check-list of North American Birds, 7th edition (1988). Includes space for a single mark, plus a space for Date, total species, time, weather, localities, observers, and notes.
