Panama Birdwatching Adventures with Allen Hale of Buteo Books

Allen has been leading trips to Panama for over 20 years and has three trips planned for 2019. Each 9-day trip features Mount Totumas in Chiriqui Province of western Panama with a focus on the birds of Cordillera de Talamanca.  An optional 5-day extension to eastern Panama includes Nusagandi in the Comarca de Guna Yala and the Parque Natural de San Francisco near Torti.

Mount Totumas Cloud Forest Resort is located at an elevation of 6300 ft and overlooks the canopy of primary forest with sweeping views of La Amistad National Park. The accommodations at Bellbird Lodge are luxurious with delicious meals provided by the family. An excellent system of trails provides access to a variety of habitats. Allen believes in a relaxed pace with time not only to observe birds, but also to savor the natural and cultural features of the Isthmus. As a result of years of experience, Allen has limited the group size to four participants plus trip leader and guide.
The three departure dates are: February 2, 2019, March 16, 2019, and April 27, 2019. The March trip is currently full. For a detailed itinerary and pricing, please contact Allen at Buteo Books (434) 263-8671 or his cell phone (434) 760-1218.
