Product Details
Two near fine hardcover volumes bound in decorated green cloth. Bumped corners. Published under the authority of the Egyptian Government. Vol. 1, frontis portrait illustration of Nicoll. Illustrated with 31 color plates and line drawings by G.E. Lodge, Roland Green, and H. Gronvold. Three folding maps in color. A work undertaken by Meinertzhagen based on specimens collected by his friend and companion, Michael J. Nicoll. Nicoll held the post of Assistant Director at the Zoological Gardens at Giza in Egypt from 1906 until 1924. It had been Nicoll's intention to publish a comprehensive work on the birds of Egypt, but failing health and an early death precluded such an outcome.
