These illustrated reviews provide comprehensive summaries of the natural history of the species, with range maps and an extensive list of references.

Accounts are 8 ½" x 11" booklets, which range from 12 to 48 pages. They cover distribution, systematics, migration, habitat, sounds, behavior, breeding, appearance, and conservation. COMPLETE SETS: Buteo Books has a few complete sets of the Birds of North America series remaining. These sets include all 716 accounts, Table of Contents, Corrigienda, Errata, slipcases, and labels. Approximately two dozen of the original fascicles have been reprinted by Buteo Books in order to complete the set. These photocopies of the originals are barely distinguishable from the originals; interior pages are in black & white and lack the blue in graphs and line drawings.
