This edition has added a few bells and whistles, cramming a lot of information in one spread, yet somehow the design is open, readable, and quite beautiful. Flight images, head, tail, and other detail images are included on the plates when appropriate; Sonagrams are often included in the text, and seasonality calendar bars are included for every species. The plates themselves have only a minor design change: the thick curving line that separated species in previous editions is here replaced by sleek, thin straight lines. And the artwork remains superb, of course.
