All the Birds of Brazil: An Identification Guide.
|
|
July 13, 2006 Our patience (though it was close to wearing thin...) is finally rewarded. Deodato Souza's second edition of All the Birds of Brazil is now in stock. The text is in English, with scientific names. Size, field marks, voice, and brief notes make up the concise text. 157 color plates by the author illustrate every bird in Brazil. Though the artwork is mediocre (and sometimes poor), users of the earlier edition confirm that they are very useful in the field, and many plates appear to have been improved since the last edition. See examples at the end of this page. The printing quality has also been improved, resulting in brighter, more correct colors, and more easily readable field marks. The text and maps have been extensively updated in this new edition. Distribution
maps are included alongside the text opposite the plates. At just 1 LB, 7 oz
(650 kg), and dimensions of 9" x 6 ¼", this book is very portable. It will fit
readily into your suitcase, backpack, or field vest.
This book is still the only comprehensive field guide to the birds of Brasil.
Though it has its drawbacks, it is a very useful book for reference or field identification.
