BIRDS OF BRAZIL: MP3 Sound Collection
Considering the fact that there are still few audio products available in contrast with the wealth of birds Brazil has to offer, Mr. Boesman compiled a set of Brazilian Bird sounds by choosing some of the recordings out of his personal collection (over 15,000) and adding some more recordings made by others. This CD fills a gap and provides researchers and birders with a reliable and handy tool that will help them in identifying birds in the field. Includes CD and booklet. $75.00 |

BIRDS OF MEXICO: MP3 Sound Collection
Anyone looking for audio-products offering sounds of Mexican birds will quickly come to the conclusion that there is very little publicly available. This is surprising considering the fact that Mexico is such a bird-rich country with a tremendous potential for researchers and birders alike. Mr. Boesman visited Mexico several times to study birds, recording vocalizations of a wealth of bird species. Includes CD and booklet. $75.00 |

BIRDS OF VENEZUELA: MP3 Sound Collection
In 1999 Mr. Boesman published the CD-ROM Birds of Venezuela / Aves de Venezuela, a pioneering product at that time. In response to feedback he received from users, he created this MP3-CD to give listeners audio they can use in the field. Includes CD and booklet. $75.00 |

MP3-CD's can be used in the following ways:
What is an MP3?
MP3 is a compression form for audio-files. The name MP3 stands for Mpeg 1 Audio
Layer 3 and its compression algorithm is based on a complicated psycho-acoustic
model. This model is based on the fact that the human ear cannot hear all the
audio frequencies. The human hearing range is between 20Hz to 20Khz and it is
most sensitive between 2 to 4 KHz. This MP3 model among other techniques tries
to eliminate the frequencies which the human ear is unable to hear keeping all
the hearing frequencies and thus leaving intact the hearing experience. For
birders and ornithologists it is also interesting to know that the hearing
range of a bird is very much the same as of a human, including the most
sensitive range. The MP3 compression thus also sounds similar to the
uncompressed original in the case of birds.
What is the advantage of an MP3-CD?
An Audio CD is limited to 99 tracks and a
total playing time of approximately 80 minutes. If you want to publish a collection
of bird sounds of e.g. 1000 species, you need 10 CD’s ! This is quite
unpractical. With MP3-CD, there is no limit to the number of songs on a single
disk, and the total amount of playing time possible exceeds 10 hours.
