Buteo Books owns the extant stock of back issues of the publications of The American Ornithologists' Union, including the Check-list of North American Birds, back issues of The Auk, and the Ornithological Monographs, plus the new Series in Ornithology.

Seventh Edition, 1998. 829 pp. The most up-to-date taxonomic classification and nomenclature, habitat, and distribution. Scientific and English names. This authoritative source gives distributions and habitats for bird species from the Arctic through Panama, including the West Indies and Hawaii.

The Ornithological Monographs series, published by the AOU, has been established for major papers and presentation too long for inclusion in the Union's journal, The Auk.

The new Series in Ornithology is a collaborative effort of the AOU and the Nuttall Ornithological Club.

Buteo Books stocks back issues of individual numbers of The Auk through 2007. Most volumes from 2008 and later are not in stock, but can be obtained.
Issues of the Ten-year Index to The Auk from 1931 through 1990, plus limited numbers of earlier indices are also available.
